MINORITY HEALTH MONTH - NEW RESOURCES AVAILABLE!

The month of April is acknowledged by many states and organizations as National Minority Health Month.  In Illinois, during this annual 30-day period, community and faith based organizations, regional and local health departments and other public and private entities are partnering to promote a variety of activities including health screenings, educational events, and health fairs.  Thousands of individuals will learn more about their own personal health, and about diseases that disproportionately affect communities of color such as breast and cervical cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health has chosen men’s health as the focus of Minority Health Month 2010 with the theme – “Man Up for Your Health! Healthy Men Move Our Communities Forward.”  However, the Center for Minority Health Services is challenging every man, woman, and child to work together to build healthier families, leading to healthier communities, as we improve public heath one community at a time.

Please join the Illinois Department of Public Health Center for Minority Health Services in eliminating health disparities by taking charge of your health.  Minority Health Month is a perfect time to evaluate your health needs and omit to making your health a priority.

The Center for Minority Health Services is offering the following resources:
