Presenter: Carla J. Curtis, LPC, CADC : Co-Owner and Director of Human Resources at  B & C Counseling Center

Overview: The presentation is about how important it is for those in the mental health profession that struggle with imposter syndrome and ongoing self-criticism to learn to embrace their strengths and weaknesses by having self-acceptance, having self-compassion which includes being warm and understanding towards themselves rather than engaging negative self-talk, and being reminded of the importance of making self-care a top priority. All of the above are important for these professionals to be able to enjoy who they are and be able to have healthy connections with their clients to promote growth and change.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding how self-acceptance is connected to helping others
  • Being patient, forgiving, and nonjudgmental of themselves just as they are with clients and not ruminating on their mistakes by letting go and moving on
  • Heightened self-awareness, physical and emotional revitalization, and more ease and less stress

Continuing Education Credits:

2.0 CEU’s are available for LCSW, LCPC, LSW, LPC, and QIDP

All other professionals are encouraged to check with their respective licensing boards for questions about whether this workshop meets criteria for continuing education credits.
