Dr. Patricia Canessa appointed to Adjunct Faculty at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine

IPHA is pleased to announce that one of its very own staff, Patricia Canessa, PhD, was recently appointed as an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Canessa serves as the Director of Health Equity and Diveresity Programs for the Illinois Public Health Association.  In addition to her formal education, Dr. Canessa has received training and certification in HIV/STD and communicable diseases health education and counseling. She is the author of numerous evidence-based practices currently supported by the State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of Salud Latina/Latino Health and has directed numerous federally-funded projects in the area of communicable diseases, maternal and child health and chronic disease management. She serves as an advisor at the local and national level in policies and programs addressing the gaps that result in health disparities. Dr. Canessa is also fluent in English, Spanish, French and other languages.
