Addressing Adolescent Depression and Suicide: Using an Evidence-Based Prevention Program
Friday, September 14, 2018 · 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET (1:00-2:00 p.m. CT)
Suicide is a serious public health problem that causes immeasurable pain. Over the past decade, the suicide rate in the U.S. has been rising and it is the second leading cause of death for youth between the ages of 11 and 18. Suicide prevention is possible. This webinar will showcase the nationally recognized, evidence-based Signs of Suicide® (SOS) prevention programs and highlight the long- standing work of Elyssa’s Mission®, a local non-profit organization that funds and directly supports SOS implementation within Illinois middle and high schools. Learn how the SOS model can be implemented in school and community settings to educate young people about mental health and prevent youth suicide.
This webinar will be presented by Laura Steele, Signs of Suicide®, a program of Riverside Community Care, and Jodie Segal, MSW, Elyssa’s Mission®
