CALL FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS
The Public Health program at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale announces the Elena M. Sliepcevich Centennial Symposium on the Future of School Health to be held April 5-6, 2019, at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center, Carbondale, IL.
Abstracts are invited for oral presentations and posters about emerging directions in school health specific to the following topics: the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) framework; developing a research agenda for school health education; advancing the evidence base for best practices and outcomes in school health education; strategies and tactics for improving school health education advocacy; school/community/private partnerships to advance school health education; advancing leadership in school health education; rebranding school health education; defining the relationship of school health to public health; the future of professional preparation in school health; the realities of implementing the WSCC model, comprehensive K-12 school health education, and the school health education standards against a backdrop of legislative mandates and competing demands; reducing health disparities and promoting health equity through school health education; and sensible solutions for school violence / school shootings. Student-authored or co-authored submissions are welcome.
ABSTRACT INSTRUCTIONS: The abstract form is attached to this announcement. Authors who subsequently prepare full papers are encouraged to submit them for publication to the Journal of School Health.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Completed abstracts should be emailed by November 30, 2018 to Ms. Heather Goelz (firstname.lastname@example.org). Presenters will be notified of the status of their abstract by December 15, 2018. A program draft will be available by February 1, 2019.

SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION: All attendees and presenters must be registered for the symposium. The early-bird registration is $100 if paid by December 31, 2018. After December 31, it is $150 if paid in advance by March 1, 2019, or $175 onsite.
