Illinois State Cancer Registry Data Release

The Illinois State Cancer Registry (ISCR) is pleased to announce the availability of new cancer data and epidemiologic reports for the 2016 diagnosis year.

The Illinois State Cancer Incidence Review and Update contains an overview with incidence highlights and technical notes. Case counts, age-adjusted rates, standard errors, and confidence intervals are provided by SEER cancer site group, single diagnosis year, gender, race, and ethnicity. Tumors diagnosed in children are classified using SEER site/histology recode based on the International Classification of Childhood Cancer, Third Edition (ICCC‐3)10 and ICD‐O‐3 and are provided by two age groups (0-14, 0-19). Appendices include Illinois populations used for rate calculations, SEER Site Groups for primary site, SEER site/histology recodes for pediatric cases, and formulas for rates. http://dph.illinois.gov/sites/default/files/publications/ers2001state-cancer-incidence-review-and-update-1986-2016final.pdf

The Illinois State Cancer Mortality Review and Update contains an overview of mortality highlights, key measures, data interpretation, and references. Case counts, age-adjusted rates, standard errors and confidence intervals are provided by SEER cancer site group, single year of death, gender, race, and ethnicity. Appendices include Illinois populations used for rate calculations, SEER Site Groups for mortality, and formulas for rates. http://dph.illinois.gov/sites/default/files/publications/ers2002illinois-state-cancer-mortality-overview-and-update-1986-2016.pdf

The Illinois County Cancer Statistics Review - Incidence highlights aggregated five-year, county-level incidence data for all 102 Illinois counties. Case counts, age-adjusted rates, and confidence intervals are presented by five year diagnosis year groups, ISCR cancer site groups based on SEER site group definitions, and gender. Where sufficient population exists, counts and age-adjusted rates are also provided for selected sites by race and ethnicity.  Percent distribution of stage at diagnosis is provided for oral cavity and pharynx, colon and rectum, melanoma of the skin, female breast, cervix and prostate cancer sites for each county.  http://dph.illinois.gov/sites/default/files/publications/cancer-county-cancer-statistics-review-incidence-2012-2016.pdf

ISCR also presents data in an easy-to-use cancer query system which contains incidence data at the state, county, and ZIP code level and mortality data at the state level. The query system provides counts, age-adjusted rates, and confidence intervals for incidence at the state level by race and ethnicity. Mortality counts, age-adjusted rates, and confidence intervals are provided at the state-level by single year, gender, race, and ethnicity.

ISCR develops and produces a variety of downloadable public use data sets at the state, county, and ZIP code levels along with additional data sets for Chicago Community Areas and the City of Chicago with Cook County Suburbs. Data items include primary site, histology, age at diagnosis or age at diagnosis group, diagnosis year or diagnosis year group, geographic area, gender, reporting source, stage at diagnosis, race and ethnicity. These data are available on the ISCR website along with a ReadMe file containing a data dictionary and file layout for each data set.
