WHAT IS EYPC?

A service learning extracurricular program that empowers young people ages 13-18 to work with local governing bodies to adopt policies that create healthier communities.

Ideal for a short-term (semester or school year length) extracurricular activity or for established youth groups working in communities, EYPC uses the experience of local ordinance adoption as a "teachable moment" for youth civic engagement.

EYPC can help teachers and their students meet the newly established "Service Learning" requirement that applies to all incoming 9 th grade students in the Fall of 2016 (and subsequent high school grade levels over the next 4 years).

Thanks to the generous support of the Illinois Department of Human Services, all resources, training, materials, and evaluation support are free to those who are interested.

Travel stipends to support your attendance at the training will be available on request as well as additional support to cover substitute teacher expenses.

We also offer six professional development hours for teachers.
